6 DOs and DON’Ts to Make Your Internship

Internship, is a very well known term to everyone, at least to those who are doing engineering. Cause every engineering student at least once does an internship in their college life, and so I did.
Now I got a chance to do an internship in my favourite domain, i.e. in web development. But for some reason, I had to leave that internship. Now in today’s blog, I’m going to share my personal experience with you and try to explain to you why I’ve to leave that internship after working one and a half months. Here in this post, I’ll be sharing the do’s and don’ts while doing an INTERNSHIP.

What is an Internship?

An Internship is nothing but doing work for a company or an organization for a limited time. For some time they offer you a stipend, sometimes only a completion certificate.
And you can add that internship to your resume which will help you to find a better job.

So, let’s begin with Do.

What are the things you should keep in mind?

See, when you are doing an internship under some sort of company or even under a single entity, remember these sorts of things. There are some points I learned from the internship.

These points include dos and don’ts. So first, let’s see what are the dos and then we’ll move to the don’ts.

Do’s:

Do's

1. Work as a team:

The very first thing I learned from my first internship is that you’ll always work with a team, that team can consist of 2 people. Even though you have to work as a team player. Don’t be shy with your team and share every success and failure of your progress. If you don’t do it (like me😅) then your team will face the problem of completing the project/task. So remember the first point.

2. Communication is important:

The second thing is communication. Obviously, you have to communicate with your team members. You’ve to share your doubts with them so that your work speed can increase. As much as you communicate with others your task will be easier.

3. Be consistant:

The third thing is consistency. Be consistent with every sort of thing, not only the tasks but also with the learnings.

4. Up to date your progress:

Deadlines are vital to an organization’s survival. If you are assigned any task, keep on top of it. Follow through on everything you are assigned and keep your internship supervisor regularly updated on your progress.

Don’ts:

We always should remember what are the don’ts more than the dos. So, here are the don’ts.

Don'ts

1. Don’t hide your mistakes:

See no one is perfect. If you did any mistake, whether it is missing a deadline or anything else, take ownership of the mistake. Offer solutions as to how you will rectify the issue and prevent others in the future. So, don’t try to hide your mistake.

2. Don’t be shy:

Don’t just blindly do the assigned task in a way they’ve told you to do. There may be an easier approach to completing that task. So, always contribute your ideas without fear of rejection. An intern with an idea is more memorable than an intern who sat quietly. Employers will see you want to help and aren’t just there to add a line to your resume.

So, these are the things that I learned from my first internship.
